Help me pick out a new guitar..

I am going to buy something within the next couple of weeks.
I have it narrowed down to two choices..
American Standard Shawbucker Strat
American Standard Tele.
I'm digging them both but the only thing holding me up on the Tele is the bridge, can I get good classic rock and blues tones from it?
I love the twisted tele neck it's very stratty like I want.
I also love the Shawbucker, that humbucker is is fantastic in that and I get the Hendrix rhythm tones I am really after.
I am mostly a Les Paul guy but I wanna add one of these to my collection.

Suggestions and help is greatly appreciated!

If you cannot get these tones from a Telecaster, you ain't tryin' hard enough.

As a compromise between both sound palettes, consider either a three pickup Telecaster or the "half out-of-phase" wiring modification.

I have been researching and playing guitars, I am gonna go with the Tele. I just like it better than the Strat. It's ballsy like my Les Pauls are..

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

I would say you can't go wrong either way, but awesome to hear you are going with the Tele! I have one that is just about finished (Allparts & USACG.)

Post pics when you get a chance!

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

How do you know tele is ballsy? You love ballsy humbucker sound in the bridge and straty sounding pickup in the neck. Shawbucker strat delivers exactly that. Not a tele.

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

There's been a lot of really truly awesome classic rock and blues music recorded and played on a Tele.

I would think that having LPs, you might want something that goes in a completely different direction, so I was a bit surprised you didn't go Strat. Either way, I agree with the above poster...you can't go wrong either way. Now go shred up that new Tele of yours!

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

I originally read the opening post to mean that he was concerned over the Tele bridge - meaning the steel object to which the saddles and pickup are attached. If, in fact, the concern was over the current Fender Am Std pickup, I can entirely understand that. Some Am Std pickups of the past have been lacklustre.

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

I haven't picked it up yet, I'm going to go Friday after work and get it.
I'll post pics when I get one. I meant balls like the Tele just seems thicker than the Stratocaster does.
It's just got more cut to it. I really like the Shawbucker too it is a blues rock beast.
This is the hardest guitar decision I've made in a long time. I truly like them both a lot.

I should build a partscaster at some point.

Or you could do what Brad Pitt did with Jenn and Angie....get both! :cool2:

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

Personally I love the sound of my MIM Tele for classic rock, so I can only imagine how much better the MIA would sound. Tele is my vote!

You might look into getting the Tele with Custom Shop Twisted Pair pickups. I put a set in mine and they really sound great.

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

I'm still up in arms, I am thinking about waiting until the 2017s come out and seeing whats new.
I've played them all and can't make a decision.. I also may say screw it and just get a new Les Paul, I am a Gibson guy anyway..

Re: Help me pick out a new guitar..

Yeah, but if you already have an LP, you need a Strat or a Tele, right? I dig the Strats more (ergonomics are important to me), and with the right pickups, you can approximate a Tele thing. But until one single guitar screams out to you, it isn't the right time to buy.
