NGD - New year, new guitar!

My Epi is very close to the Wizard II on my RGs

Just without the flat spot down the middle
I don't have the old '98 RG570 that I had anymore to directly A/B, but that guitar had a ridiculously thin neck (in a good way). I have not played a guitar with a neck that thin again. I don't even know of anyone that makes anything thinner than that going by specs (17mm).

I like the pickups, honestly. I'm pretty sure I'll be keeping the 490R in there. It doesn't sound as smooth as full as the Air Norton in my Tribute, but it also doesn't sound as chirpy and boomy as the '59. And I think it sounds a bit nicer clean than the Air Noton.

I like the 498T, but I'm undecided wether I love it or not. The upside is it has a ton of that same Gibson rasp that I like from the 500T. That gives it lots of character. The downside is the mids are a bit stuffy, sorta like the JB, and it feels a tad low output compared to the Aldrich. I'm leaning more towards keeping it, and I'm sure some height adjustment will get me liking it better, but the Aldrich right now certainly sounds more to my liking.

Here she is with her sister.

It came out a bit more golden here.

Enjoy! At first look I thought that was some sort of clear finish, but in looking further these are solid color. Reminds me a bit of the old faded series with color sprayed over unfilled mahogany.

That's pretty much what these are. I haven't played an actual faded from the 2000's or 2010's, or whenever they introduced hem, so I don't know how they've refined or evolved the finish, but these is what these are, more or less. They call it "nitro satin" finish. And that's exactly why I'm arguing these are kind of expensive if you pay full price. The Studio Fadeds at some point were like 800 dollars, weren't they? I guess the upside is they have always had a reputation of sounding very lively because the finish is so thin.

I love that color. I know all monitors are different, but on mine, it has a subtle green-ish / yellow-ish tint to it.

Thank you. It does. It's claled "Gold Mist". The guy from the store that I traded in my Strat at told me it was basically the same color as my Strat. But the funny thing is the Strat started life as "Inca Silver", but it's nitro, and it had aged over the years to be sort of golden champagne-y. This is kinda like what this is like. Like if a silver nitro finish had aged over time.

Spending some time with it, man, the neck profile is killer. I've always loved the Gibson 60's neck.

I also disconnected the tone knobs, and that really opened up the pickups. The 498T was already pretty great, but now it's a little tighter and more aggressive. The 490R is nicer clean now too.

Does this model have any fancy switching, or is it more standard?
Nah. Just straight up two tones and two volumes. Handwired, no PCB. Nothing fancy.

Good quality Gibson-branded CTS pots but cheapie little tiny caps. But since the tones are now out on mine, no worries.

So ummm.... I'm moving the 498T to my LTD and the 490R to my Tribute.

What color pickups do you guys think would look better in the Modern Lite? Double white or Zebra?
