Ok my new V has Dimarzio DP-100 Super Distortion in the bridge. Sounds pretty good....
However, I am definately missing the "body" of tone that my DD had in my other axe.
I think this is odd because after reading around I see that the Super Distortion has a tweaked midrange boost. But that is not what I'm hearing. I hear lots of lowwer midrange and some treble but there is a definate gap in tone. It still sounds awesome for classic rock riffs but there is not a whole lot of area to the sound when I play leads. The Squeches are good, and the attack is perfect but then theres just no body to the sound.
Also I seem to need to crank the mid knob on my amp. During clean playing I need to have it pushed really high just to distinguish the notes. It does sound good but I'm just curious because this does not seem to be what I should be hearing according to what I've read about it. It actually seems like a mid-output crunchy pickup that plays well on both clean and dirty channels.
This may simply be since I've played DD's in my last 2 axes so maybe I'm just used to a larger mid hump.
Any thoughts? I think I should be hearing a more aggressive sound but its very squishy. Is this normal? Is there some way I should adjust the pickup or my guitar??
