those import 85/15 dont sound as good as the usa models to my ears.

i like the vintage carve better than modern

I do love the look of the "vintage" carve, but apparently it's a LOT shallower on these newer CE models than the originals. :/

On a related note, I think I have a set of USA-made 85/15 pickups on hand that I could throw in the S2...hadn't thought about that!

The only issue I'm having is that $1700 is still a LOT for what's basically a USA-made "SE" model, ha ha!

I had an S2 Singlecut in the glossy version of this same color that I picked up for around $1K right before the pandemic. Only sold it because I slightly prefer the "Pattern Thin" neck profile and my SE CU24 was equally as nice once I replaced the SE nut with a Core version for $20.

In fact, aside from the cool satin finish, I'm trying to think what this guitar really offers that my SE doesn't?

Hmm...decisions, decisions.

It will still be a better guitar than the SE line, which I had issues with. And satin finishes are super cool.

Besides, it isn't that it is so much better than an SE (it probably is better, though), it is that the CE24 is a lot more money with very modest gains for it.
