Help me with my new tune, "Behind These Shades"

Hey guys!

I have this new tune I'm working on now, Behind These Shades.

Please have a listen and give me some feedback.

Your first though, what's good, what's bad, suggest changes etc?

I'm open to everything as it's just in the beginning of the mix phase.

Oh, and please note that the vocals are just some sloppy stuff to get a hang of it. They will be re-recorded, more and better backings and more aggressive lead song when I get to it.

So, any thoughts or ideas on this first rough version?

The song is really great...
The first Lead have to be somehow louder i think.The intro part has too loud cymbals i think.Sounds allmost distorted...(yeah my clips are not better hehe)..

Overall cool song!

Good points... I've adjusted accordingly already

It'll probably take a couple of weeks/months before I decide that to post the final version of this one. I'm trying to get a 100% learning out of each new track I make... most important is to not hurry through to the next one. I'll learn more if I take my time with it... and hopefully it'll start sounding professional within a couple of years

This is good stuff! I agree with DB, turn up the lead. I do think it's a little too much going on in the intro.. Perhaps I would say something else if the lead was more in the focus.. I'll listen more to it.

But generally, lots of good stuff here. I got a very The Band vibe from it.

I'll take your thoughts into consideration... may remove something from the intro. We'll see, it's far from ready so things might change radically

I think the keyboard in the intro needs to either be brought down a little, or made to be more of a feature. It seems a little bit "in-between" to me. I'd probably add a nice big lesley sound to it!!!
Ditto what's been said on the lead.

Otherwise, very impressive stuff.

Of course this is all just my opinion...

Nice song! Couldn't hear the bass tho. So that and if you redo the vocals it will be great.

Good song. If i were to change it, i would give the intro a more focused solo. Right now it just sounds all over the place which is not what u want especially when u're leading people into the song. Also your singing is alright but try to not sound as breathy and make sure your notes doesn't slide. it'll also sound good if u were to put a slide solo in the beginning.

i like it alot. and i agree about the lead thing at the beginning other than that its really good. I like how you kinda have a skynard/dire straits mixed kinda vocals

xerxes, cool I never even thought about Tuesdays Gone when I made it. But now that you mention it... well yes, it reminds me a lil of it!

SixStringSales, whops I almost hear the bass too clearly. Was thinking about bringing it down a little. What kind of speakers are you using? 2.1 subsystem or regular computer speakers? The vocals will be redone as soon as I get rid of this flu of mine

fatigueofheart, Thanks man! Yes, the solos are also to be rerecorded and more focused. Now they are just noodlings, to get a hold of how it will sound. I'll take the slide solo into consideration, could turn out really nice actually. Thanks for the tip!

Reminds me a bit of a song called "Lady's Choice" by Rusty Zinn. Nice vibe to it for sure.

I would try and warm up the lead guitar sound a bit, roll the tone back a hair nothing drastic. I like your style a lot, I would assume you listen to The Faces but if you don't make sure to check them out.

Yup the lead will be re-recorded... possibly a slide lead in the beginning, we'll see. But warmer we'll make it
