Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

Hello, I'm new to the forum.
I'm working on a project guitar, Silvertone 1446, that came with unusual 3x3 mini humbuckers. Finding period correct is almost impossible and pricey. I was hoping for now to use just some mini humbuckers that I had but I've come to find out that the surrounds I have are smaller in length than mini humbuckers made today.

I need them to be 2 16/32 in length at the most. Does anyone have any suggestions on who makes them that size. I'm open to other ideas, but would like to use the original surrounds.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Pics? :)

Another option is contacting Seymour Duncan and have them rewind the pickups you have. You can contact them @ customshop@seymourduncan.com or call them @ 805-964-9610 ext 1092 during business hours, Pacific time. It will probably be much easier (and cheaper) than finding vintage replacements.

I guess I wasn't very clear, I don't have the originals.

I don't see an option for posting pictures. I'm on an iPad, not my desk top, not sure if that matters.

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

So are you after exact replacements, or are you willing to modify the body?

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

I don't want to modify the body, just looking for something that will fit the existing rings. If I can figure out how to post a picture I will. Or google Silvertone 1446 and you'll see the diamond shape rings. They problem is lots of companies make what they call vintage mini humbuckers but they don't use the vinage length, which is 2 17/32".

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

All of SD pickups have their dimensions on the product pages, and this looks like a strange one. If minis are not the right size, that leaves you looking for vintage replacements, or something custom made.

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

That's one mini that SD should consider adding to their Custom Shop line, they were made by Gibson for that guitar line and never used to my knowledge for any Gibson guitars. They as the OP said have the staggered 3+3 polepiece config., like a Fender WRHB pickup. I wonder if they are roughly the size of the original NY minis that came in the Epiphone guitars before Epi was owned by Gibson (Gibson used them up when they acquired Epiphone, then made their own version of the mini). I think those NY minis were a different size than the later Gibson minis, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I am sure the Custom Shop could build them...hey, they might have done that already at some point. My thought is that they just aren't common enough to add as a regular production pickup. I've never heard one, though- what do they sound like?

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

those look like they are gibson size, since they also fit in those rings

the gibson mini humbuckers and firebird pups are the same size and seem a touch bigger than those unfortunately. if the pup is dead a rewind is an option or find a vintage replacement, not sure anyone is currently making anything that size

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

I went to the Lollar website and don't see the dimensions listed.
But I think the Seymour Duncan Antiquity II mini humbucker might fit. I also sent a email to Seymour Duncan custom shop yesterday and waiting to hear back.

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

they are pretty much all the same size since they are meant to be direct replacements for gibson firebird or mini humbuckers. i think your best bet is to have the ones you have rewound. what do they look like from the bottom?

I wish I had the originals to have rewound, but I don't. I have the surrounds, but no pickups.

Re: Help needed finding a replacement for vintage mini humbucker

Here is what the originals look like...I don't have them. Looking for something that fits the surrounds which I do have and is somewhat period correct. I think the Antiquity II mini humb.would fit, but of course it's not 3x3 like the originals.
