Hi guys,
I already asked those questions in my previous thread about my volume pot which was connected backwards, but I figured since it was a bit off topic and I solved my backward volume pots problem, I should start a new thread.
So basically I want to rewire my all guitar because I never did it before and think it could be a good experience. Also I want to replace the volume pot by a push/pull pot which killswitch the guitar when I pull it.
I found this diagram which match my guitar (2 humbuckers, 1 volume, 1 tone and a 3 way blade).
But I have some questions.
First of all about the rewiring and the diagram :
- My pickeups only have 2 wires but on the diagram each pickups have 5 wires : red and white (that are soldered together and to nothing else, so I assume I have to ignore those ones), grey and and green (that are soldered together on the back of the volume pot, so I assume I have to consider them as one wire) and black.
If I understand correctly, the green+grey wire is the "negative" and the black is the "positive". Am I right ?
- On my pickups I have a black and a white wire. I checked the polarity, the black wire is connected to the baseplate (well it's not really a plate, but a tiny bit of copper you can see at the top left of the pickup on the photo).
Does that mean the black wire is the negative ? If so, is it the same as the south pole ?
- The 3 way blade in my guitar have 8 lugs in a row and not 4 on each sides like in the diagram, and it's connected like that :
So I assume I should let it like that and not change it ? I think my 3 way blade is not the same than the one on the Seymour & Duncan diagram. If anybody knows how it works exactly and what each lug is, I would gladly learn about it.
Second (but my main concern is to understand the diagram and how to rewire rn) about the push/pull killswitch.
- How to implement that in the diagram ?
