I sold my amp on ebay and played it the night before i sent it at a gig, worked fine, played it before I took the tubes out(Crate Blue Voodoo) and it worked fine, packed it up very well and sent it and this guy is a ****! Look at this and PLEASE help me in any way you can or fixing the problem.

vcobbie.....WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS AMP.....it has no power.....its no louder than a 5 watt amp....just got it 20 ninits ago....it seez here on your repair ticket no power....the secondairy transformer doesn,t even get warm....its cold...this amp has a bad secondairy transformer.....you said it was in perfect working condition.....I am very disapointed.....Send my money back......and Im shipping the amp back to you....I need to hear from you on this quickly


Then after responding about maybe he put the tubes in wrong I get this!!!


This amp is nowhere close to 60 watts....at best..mabe tweenty watts and thats only if the boost botton is on.....on the destortion channell.....when you turn boost botten off....it dies and has no more volume than a 5 watt amp....the odd tube is the preamp tube......it goes next to the primary transformer.......it shows this from the schimatic.....this amp is not right and you know its not....unless the boost botton is on it has nothing for power.......I want my money back....and soon

Man...I had a problem with a BV 1x12 combo, and even after repairs it was still ****, so I sold it, with that clearly displayed in the auction.

I remember you saying that the amp didn't have enough volume. There was definately something wrong with it.

Have the guy ship it back to you, but don't refund his money until you yourself verify the problem's he has mentioned.

I know I said that, but I took it to the repair shop and they said that yes that was as loud as it was supposed to get. What the problem was with the band situation, we use a drummachine and we just run it too loud. The amp is in PERFECT condition and I even sent the reciepts of when it was looked at and new tubes were put in. I'm not going to refund his money just because it's not as loud as he thought it would be, I sent it perfect. I sent word off to ebay about it, I even have proof it worked because we played a gig the night before and I used the amp and even taped it, has the date and the amp goin full. Tested it before I shipped it, worked fine. The amp is under warranty, if something is really wrong, its free to fix butr nothing should be wrong with it as I sent it perfectly fine. Maybe a tube was put in wrong because it seriously sounds like this guy has no clue waht he is doing. I gave him my number so we can talk about it and try to find out what is wrong. Am I wrong to just tell him it's under warranty still as I just got it loked at a month or so ago so go get it looked at? What do I do????

Don't say, "It's under warranty, just go get it looked at." It sounds like you don't give a sh*t, and he'll try to cause more problems for you. Perhaps you could mention that it's still covered by the warranty, and offer to help him locate an authorized Crate repair shop near him.

Good idea, I 'll just mention that, I gave him my number and I WILL help him any way I can but he's not getting his money back just because its not as loud as he thought it would be. It's been checked out, he has the proof, it worked fine when it was sent, I got no reason to give him his money back especially if he can go get it looked at for free.

This is a tricky situation, mostly because you can't be sure if it's broken or not. If you tell him he's not getting his money back, he's going to file a claim against you. If he paid with Paypal, they will take the money from you and then you're at his mercy when it comes to getting your amp back. If he paid with a money order, he could go so far as to file fraud charges against you. So getting confrontational is not the way to go.

Unfortunately, warranties are rarely transferrable. The repair shop may or may not ask for a receipt to prove that he is the original owner. Also, based on the buyer's spelling and grammar, I'd say he's dumb as a tack and probably doesn't know that much about amps. It could be that you're right, nothing is wrong with it and he just has some crazy idea about how loud the amp should be. My advice is to have him take it to a tech. If it's broken, offer to pay the repair bill. If it's not broken, you don't pay anything and he pays the bench fee.

Tell him if the amp's busted then it's up to him and the delivery service to settle the final deal on it. When it left your hands it was in fine working condition. It's his burden to prove first and foremost, that it's broken at all and that he's not some total knob who has no concept of how loud the amp should be.

Do this...call him up on the phone and have him crank the amp up with you on the line. Let him play for a bit and tell him "Yep....that's what it sounds like" and consider the deal done.

He'll bitch about it....they always do. There's nothing you'll ever be able to do to get him to keep him quiet about it.

You asked, so I'll tell you the way that I would approach it. I would tell him that I'll make it right and that I want to make him happy. You need to talk to this guy on the phone to help him accurately diagnose the problem. I would think of myself as a store who hopes to earn repeated business from the guy. Help him to the best of your ability. If he's still not happy, I would take the amp back and relist it. I would make him pay to ship it back. I know that it sucks, but for me, it would be the right thing to do. You do want the guy to be happy, right?

If I'm not mistaken, insurance claims need to be handled by the seller, not the buyer, since the seller was the one who originally purchased the insurance. I still think that an authorized Crate repair center in his area should look at it. If it is broken, see if the shipping company will cover the repair cost. If it's not broken, he pays the bench fee. That's how I would go about handling it. What method did the buyer pay with, and what shipping company did you use?

No paypal and come to find out he's gerking my chain. He said he had to use a check because his credit card was being "revalidated" and it would be two week before he could use it again. Nobody around here has a clue about that. I am not the original owner and I STILL got it repaired under warrantly. He has no way to get his money back since it was a check doesn't he?

Well, if he wanted to, he could cancel the check on you, but if it has been a week and the check has already cleared, it's over and done with.

You said you got the amp checked out before you shipped it out. I advise that you send him the phone number for the place that looked at it for proof that it was in fine condition and delivered the right amount of volume. Refer a repair center to him to show that you're trying your best. I think Skarekrough's idea about what to do is a great idea. If something actually happened during shipping, it's not your fault. If there was insurance on it, it's up to the buyer to file a claim for it (I don't think the seller has to initiate anything).

Whatever you do, do not send your money to him expecting him to send the amp back. I've heard way too many horror stories from that and if this guy is a d!ck, odds are he'll keep the amp and you'll be SOL. Just some food for thought...

This warranty and a quarter will get you a nice cup of jack squat so forget that...you sold it used and mailed it to a stranger. They will laugh at you for a warranty repair.

Yes.This is a VERY tricky situation.
*Did the guy blow his up and buy yours only to swap them and blame you?
*Did it get dropped and damaged and truly does not work?
*Is one tube installed incorrectly or bad?
*It it working perfectly and the guy does not know.

FIRST - I would call the guy and have him walk you through the tube installation and hear it over the phone.

SECOND- have him take it to a shop and GET A SECOND OPINION. Maybe it *IS* obviously bad or the speaker got pummeled. Maybe it is fine but hook it up to something else...or compare it to another amp if you can find one. Find out where it all stands damage wise and (the guys reference wise) and just go from there.

I sell a lot on ebay and have had two incidents where a similar thing happened - maybe you can learn from my experience.

A) modded Fuzz pedal arrives to a guy and it "don't work". He's pissed and spent over 200 dollars with paypal. He went straight to paypal and filed a complaint before even emailing me. He also filed an ebay complaint. Left a negative feedback. Got my contact information phone number and called and left 4 messages threatening to SUE ME, contact all my other buyers and warn them of the scam. I check my emails in reverse order that morning and flipped at the **** storm, so I call him ASAP and have him walk me through the pedal to troubleshoot it.

30 seconds into the conversation he says "WHAT BATTERY- IT TAKES A BATTERY?!- WHY DIDN'T YOU SAY SO"- so it was MY fault the guy did not know it needed a 9 volt battery. Took a little while to clear it all up stupid **** like that happens.

B) Another incident. A guy spends (750 dollars!) on a very rare WAH pedal. It sounded great but looked terrible with hardly any paint left. I used it lightly for 2 months and it always worked perfectly. So I have him walk me through it...still don't work and the guy sounds like he know his stuff. He wants me to file a damage claim on it. I agree ONLY after I check it out for myself. He is hesitant but agrees to return it.

When I get it back -sure enough - it does not work. I remove the board and instantly notice an odd solder on the rear at the inductor legs. Being such a rare pedal I had photographed every millimeter of the thing thinking I would build my own clone one day. But I did not put huge circuit pics in the auction.

So I go dig up my pics and compare it the pedal in my hand and the solder was different. Obviously different. Then I notice a resistor was in reverse and also one wire was a different color! What the piss?! The guy swapped the guts with another one!!! So I print the pics and checked all the solders and actually got the thing running in 5 minutes.

I told him it was a simple fix and it was on the way back to him. He doesn't want it - he wants a refund. I told him I wanted the blue wire back that was in the pedal I sold him and emailed him the 2 different pics. He shut up. On the inside under the board. I left a bus. card that said "nice try". So yea, I gave up a free repair -no biggie- but I learned an even bigger lesson that day.

....I imagine this amp situation lies somewhere between those two scenerios.
