Help / opinions on blender wiring / capacitor dilema

Hi all

I have a Luxe pre wired kit that comes with a .1uF cap. Shown here:

These is being used with Don Mare "Brown-O-Tones" pickups based on the Clapton's Brownie sound. Thery are pretty much 1956 style, formvar wir, 6k 6k 6.3k-bridge

I have decided to fit a Fender no-load pot in to use as a blender pot. The kit comes with a .022 capacitor.

My query is, is that I'd like to keep the .1uF cap from the Luxe kit and use that inconjunction with the blender pot. Has anyone tried it and would it adversely affect the tone?

Any help would be appreciated.

A blender pot doesn't mess up the tone, no. A .1uf cap is very dark but no, it won't totally mess up the tone either.

Oh man, I'd get rid of that .1uf cap. Even a .047uf cap is generally too dark for my ears. If the pups are very bright, then a .047uf may be fine, but still, you may want to consider a .033uf cap for a Strat. I usually use .033uf or .022uf caps in Strats (or other single coil guitars), and I use .022uf, .015uf, or even .010uf caps in humbucker guitar. Just my personal preferences, But I've never heard of anyone actually using (or liking) such a large value cap as .10uf.

Oh man, I'd get rid of that .1uf cap. Even a .047uf cap is generally too dark for my ears. If the pups are very bright, then a .047uf may be fine, but still, you may want to consider a .033uf cap for a Strat. I usually use .033uf or .022uf caps in Strats (or other single coil guitars), and I use .022uf, .015uf, or even .010uf caps in humbucker guitar. +1 I've yet to find even a .047uf useful in anything. My Strat and Tele both have .022uf caps.
