Help Please - HSH with Split Coils, 5 way switch and DPDT. 1 vol 2 x tone

Hi folks,

I'm fairly new to guitar wiring, and I've recently picked up a wee strat copy with some odd wiring.

The wiring is only 1/2 complete so I need to try to suss out what to put where, and I'm hoping someone on here will be able to help.

Configuration is HSH, split coils, 5 way switch and a DPDT. 1 Volume, 2 Tone.

So my question is, would anyone have a wiring diagram I could follow.

If not, some guidance maybe?

I will have to ask a few questions before we can help. Do the H pickups auto split, or is that what the DPDT does? Which pickups are these (so we might know what wire colors you have)?

Hi, Thanks for coming back so quickly!

I don't know whose they are, but they are Red Yellow Black White wires - and the sheathing of course.

i THINK the intent of the wiring is to allow the switch to increase the flexibility of the guitar - by using the DPDT to switch between coils, but I suppose it could be to toggle Parallel / Series wiring?

What colors are the single coil's wires?
Maybe someone here has a guess as to what those wires are, or what pickups they are? The switch an also split both humbuckers if the 5 way works like a normal Strat.

Hi, the single coils are red and black. I think it might be from an Aria STG - just something I found on the sellers FB page from a while back!

Would you know where the switch needs to sit in the wiring.

in other words... If I wired it up the 'normal' way and then looked to add the switch, where would it be, how would it be connected?

Also, is it possible to have the 2 humbuckers splitting on 1 switch? The reason I ask is because it's possible the DPDT is used to jump from parallel to series wiring also...

I'll maybe just buy a pre loaded scratchplate and throw it in!

As far as the series/parallel switch...are you doing that with 1 humbucker? I would think it impossible to do those combinations for both humbuckers with 1 switch, much less the combinations of series/parallel of 2 pickups at once.

Exactly. One DPDT will do one humbucker ser/par, or two HB'ers split.
