Help please! Wiring problem on HSH with splits (Schaller Megaswitch S)

Hey guys, I'm pulling my hair out here.
I tried to pull out the Ibanez AZ hyperion wiring and put in HSH wiring with a DPDT switch using a Schaller Megaswitch S. I have a reverse-polarity middle pickup.

Got my Ibanez wired up like Dimarzio's diagram, but these are the results:

Going by the positions of the 5-way selector:
neck-middle position: neck makes sound, bridge makes sound
middle position: bridge only sound
middle-bridge position: all 3 make sound
the bridge and neck positions do not make any sounds

This is the diagram I used:



I now found this "HSH2" diagram by Schaller. Closest I could find, but NO dpdt switch info, and also there are 2 tone knobs here, when I only have 1:



I am guessing the Schaller wiring order is totally different than on that ibanez. I am thinking to just rewire the thing according to the schaller diagram, BUT..
can you help me figure out the wiring differences to include the dpdt, and also only have 1 tone knob?

*PS for the DPDT I just wired it EXACTLY as shown in the dimarzio diagram. I had no idea which way is up or down, though. It should work either way, right? I flicked the switch and it does change the sound.

I’m assuming you still have Dimarzios there?

Any chance you wired the switch the opposite way? i.e. on the wrong side? The results are so different that we should start with things like that [emoji4]

The Megaswitch wiring is totally different than anything. As well constructed as they are, they make no sense. I have two in front of me. Just get a Superswitch and be done with it. Hair is hard to grow back.

I shelled out $20 on the megaswitch specifically for this change, I’m not getting a different switch.

It’s very possible that I did the dpdt switch wrong. That dimarzio diagram is all upside down.

The dpdt* switch is the same as the dimarzio diagram. However, if I rotate it 180 degrees and do the exact same wiring that way, is there any difference?

Ah and yes dimarzio except the bridge is a Suhr, same coloring as Duncan.
Satch Track neck
True Velvet rwrp mid
Suhr Aldrich bridge.

Pretty sure I got the colors right for the Suhr (adapted to match the dimarzios)

Yes. To ArtieToo’s point, these switches are great to use exactly the way they are designed for but they are hard to debug. The switch is not symmetrical.

Oops I meant the dpdt switch, not the 5-way. If the dpdt is rotated 180 degrees, it’s the same, right? If so then it’s a straightforward wiring so that would be correct

DPDT is fine.

I've only had luck wiring MegaSwitches *exactly* as they are designed with nothing else added. For that, they work well. I would love to know what you think of this wiring when you get it sorted out.

Ok, did it! Used the ms diagram as above plus figured out the split. Thank you!

Glad you got it worked out. Part of the reason for my comment is that not only are there three versions of that switch, (you did say you had the "S" version), but the new one is completely different than the old one. And, they don't actually show the switch connections. They just tell you where to connect specific wires.

But, you figured it out. Good job.
