Sure, on the wire the outside braid is ground and the inside part of the wire is hot.

it is going to be easier than wire the four conductor pickup. you just have two places to solder, the braid on the top of the volume pot and the hot to the selector switch. You may have to run a wire from the back of the volume pot to the braid to get it to ground, since it is covering the hot wire. If the old pickup you are replacing is junk just use the black wire from it to ground the new pickup. Good luck
