Help - Problem after installing new Pups!

Re: Help - Problem after installing new Pups!

O-k...

1. Make sure that your green/bare are properly attached to the back of your pots. Give a slight tug...

2. Make sure the black wire rom the PuP is going to the lug on your volume pot that has the cross-over wire which also goes to your tone pot. Make sure that you didn't attach the black wire to a lug where the wire goes to your 3-way switch.

3. Its hard to tell from the pic, but are there 2 wires in that long gray one? You should have one wire (hot) coming from your 3 way going to the output jack...and another wire (ground) coming from the back of your pot going to the output jack. It looks like the gray wire comes from your 3-way..then goes by the pot in the upper right. Does one wire from the gray connect to the pot there? And if it does...which pot. If you can tell me where the gray wire from the output jack originates..I might be able to help better.

Thanks Mustaine,

1 - Yep they are definately well attached!

2 - Provided I understand this correctly, I am pretty sure the black is wired to the correct lug. The volume pots have 3 lugs each. I wired the black to the lug that the old one's were wired to. The existing cabling is all hidden in the shielding by the looks. For example the red wire attaches to the pot and then has a white wire coming out of it that attaches to a lug on the pot. The crossover goes to the next lug (which I have grounded black to).

3 - The grey cable is direct from the switch. As with the red cables it has a white wire inside it. The grey at the switch is attached either end on the switch and then to either end of the output jack. This is exactly as it was anyway! Bare in mind I haven't removed or added anything other than the pups.

The only other thing I can see is the thin black wire which I believe is the bridge ground wire!?

I think my soldering iron is a low power plug in jobby, as it took ages to heat the solder enough to remove the wires initially! They have since been heated several times what with me checking connections and moving things around. Having read what has been said above I'm wondering if I've fried the volume pots!?
