Help replacing speakers

I've never replaced a speaker before but I'm trying to be more hands on with my gear because I'm tired of paying someone to do work that I could do myself.

I've been dying to replace the speaker in my Carr Rambler, but I don't know how to solder at all. BUT, it has been brought to my attention that there are solderless connections on amps for speakers and I wasn't aware of this until now. I just assumed that you always needed to solder.

Is all I need to make life easier is to buy a different speaker cable to connect the amp to the speaker itself? I just noticed that could simply unplug it and replace it for another.

Is there a speaker cable I can buy witg a solderless connection?

im sure there is something you could buy but ive always just made them myself. im assuming your carr has the speaker wires soldered onto the tabs of the speaker? you could just put push on connectors on the cable you already have. do you have a soldering iron?

what speaker is in the rambler you want to change?

No, I do not own a soldering iron. If I could avoid doing that to have the easier option of just connecting them without having to do that it would be ideal.

The speaker I may want to change it to is the Celestion V-Type.

Whether you connect direct to the speaker or to a push on connector, you’re going to have to solder at some point - don’t make it feel like a big/difficult thing - it isn’t, so just dive in and learn (you’ll soon find there are many little things you’ve been paying someone else to do that you don’t need to!

I use female disconnects (.205) and I generally solder the wires to the connector (not to the speaker terminal). But, the disconnects are made as crimp connectors and a decent crimper will do the job if you cant solder.
There is a caveat, the speaker terminals are actually .187 so technically a .187 disconnect is the right size. But they are so damned tight that removing them can be near impossible. .205 fits nice and snug.
