HELP!! Stymied by feedback!

I installed the Custom Custom (with a nickel cover) in the bridge position of my Dean Hardtail. I've got a feedback problem when using the gain channel of my Soldano. The is the first pup and/or guitar that's ever presented a feedback issue with this amp. I tried lowering the pup but that didn't work.
Previously I had the JB with the nickel cover in the bridge position of the Dean with no feedback issues.

Any ideas how to reduce the feedback and/or what's causing the issue? Is it the nickel cover.....is the pup not properly potted? When installing the CC I noticed that the bridge position controls have a rather large capacitor (looks like a mini tootsie roll)....would installing a standard 223 capacitor help? Should I just return the pup (but I may be past the return policy period...it took me 10 days to get the CC installed due to work and such).

HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: HELP!! Stymied by feedback!

Probably the problem is the nickel cover and it probably needs to be wax potted again.

Try standing in front of your amp and when the pickup starts to squeel, put you finger on the cover and press hard. If the ringing stops, it's microphonic and needs to be wax potted.

Assuming the pup needs to be wax potted, is that a do it yourself kinda job? If not, who is a go to for such a task? Thanks.

I could do it. You'd have to send me your pickup and pay shipping both ways. Lew

For what it's worth, someone (was it john...) had a nice tutorial about DIY was potting for covers... Piece of cake...

Re: HELP!! Stymied by feedback!

sounds like its microphonic to me. if youve had other pups in there with no problems id say it needs to be dipped
