Help...Where does the 12AU7 tube go??

Hi guys

Need some help...
My amp uses 2 x 6L6s, 4 x 12AX7, 1 x 12AU7
But cant figure out where my 12AU7 tube goes.

There is one slot furthest away from the others, however, that slot is just right behind the guitar input jack.

So where should I place the 12au7?

At the slot furthest from the guitar input (just behind the reverb knob) or the one that is much further away from the rest (behind the guitar input)?

wowo. I aint seen you in a long time. You should wait for an expert, but usually all 12ax7's are preamp tubes grouped together.Therefore the one by itself is probably a reverb tube I guess and would be the 12au7.
I woudnt worry about it till you find out for certain cause they are interchageable-though not the same tube- as far as I know( 12ax7 and 12au7).

Looks like V5 for phase splitter.

Hi guys, sorry i left the amp model out.
its a crate blue voodoo 60 combo.

Yeah i know the 12ax7 and 12au7s are interchangable, however i was told that if placed in the wrong position, the tone will really suffer.. so im trying to get it right.

jerryjg, yeah its been awhile man. working my a$$ off.... i think i need to find a new job, this one's killing me!

I can't find a schematic on that amp but based on what I did find it sounds like it is the phase inverter/driver which should be the preamp tube closest to the power tubes...

My amp came with a diagram inside for the 12AT7s (not 12AU7s but different to the rest of the tubes anyway).

Are all the pre amp tubes in a straight line in the chassis??

Not they arent really in a straight line.
