Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

I have a Fender strat with 3 Fender custom 69 pickups and a Floyd Rose tremolo. I want to replace the bridge pickup with a Seymour Duncan Pearly GatesTB-PG1trembucker. My guitar has 3 250k pots. I am a little bit confused because some Fender wiring diagrams have 1 volume 500k pot with 2 250k control pots and some all 3 pots 250k. If I install the 500k volume pot i worry not to lose my wonderful custom 69 tone. If I let all 250k I worry if the Pearly Gates pickup is not working properly. Pearly Gates has output 8.8K while the custom 69's 5.8K resistance so I worry about the 2nd position. I have seen Fender custom shop models with alike configuration. So I don't know what to do.
Any suggestions?

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

Depends what you want to do and how bright you like your guitars. All my strats bar on have 500k volume and tone and it's not too bright.
The only one with 250k is HSH and I have the humbuckers sharing a 500k tone pot and the middle single coil was ice pick with 500k so it's got 250k - volume still 500k.
If go 500k for all and if you find some thing too bright just change that tone control for 250k

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

I want the usual sratish sound on middle and neck and the Pearly Gates for hot bluesy sound. I also want to use the volume knob to turn from cleans to dirty.

Thank you

In that case 500k volume, middle and neck share the same 250k tone and PG with 500k tone
or neck and middle with individual 250k tones and PG no tone.

You definitely want 500k volume.

Personally I'd go with the former.

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

The 500k won't affect the sound of custom 69's?

Do you have to propose me a wiring diagram?

Thank you

Not if you use 250k tones.

The former uses standard strat wiring but add a wire to from the bridge pickup to the tone side of the 5 way switch then add a jumper wire across the middle and neck terminals on the tone side of the switch.

Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

The former suggestion I made has 500k vol, 500k tone for humbucker and 250k tone for neck and bridge. Or you could go down the standard strat route of 250k neck tone, separate 250k middle tone and no tone on the bridge. I don't like that setup as I like to control the tone on all 3 pickups

Let me know which you want to do and I can find you a diagram or draw a diagram

Thank you very much. Let me think of it a bit and I will let you know Just a final question Do you split the humbucker? And if not what happens in the 2nd position How hum and middle pickup work together?

You can coil split with a push pull on the volume. The bridge and middle work just fine together. Still classic quack but a fatter duck

What pot Seymour Duncan suggests for optimal use or best experience use 500k or 250k? Or it leaves it to user preferences? I am talking for volume pot and tone pot separately

Thank you

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

This is the wiring for standard HSS strat plus coil splitting.
Neck and middle gave their own tone control, bridge has no tone control

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

However I prefer control of tone for all pickups and would do it like this

Ignore the scratchy lines, they happened when I tried to resize the image for editing - it's not my diagram

The colours are Seymour Duncan wiring I believe

Thank you very much. What is your opinion coil splitting or not. And if yes which pot should I change to push pull pot? Without been an expert I believe the bridge pot correct? I don't want to put a switch in the guitar

Re: Help Wiring suggestion on HSS Fender Strat

I would think you'd make the 2nd tone pot (the bridge one) 500k, and that would be the push/pull (or push/push) pot. Coil splitting a humbucker is a good idea, if you like a traditional Strat tone in position 4. It is close, although not perfect. Certainly closer than a full humbucker there.

I would go without coil split although I have never heard pos2 humbucker with single coil

I coil split with 4.7k resistor I have an HSH that has coil splits individually on each HB with push push on the volume and tone 1 plus a push push on tone 2 to jumper the hot terminals for neck and bridge so whichever is selected, the other comes on.
