Help with a Boost Pedal

Hello! I was looking to get a different OD pedal. I currently have a Ibanez Tube Screamer which i love, I use it just for a little boost. I want to experiment with different sounds. The tone im looking for is basically a tube screamer sound with a little bit more bass. I was thinking about either getting a Keeley Mod done to the pedal or trying out a Krank Krankshaft pedal. The This is my set-up Dean Razorback 7 String guitar with EMGs---Ibanez TubeScreamer---Boss NS-2-----Krank Krankenstein-----Krank Revolution 4x12 Cab with a BBE Sonic Stomp in the Effects Loop. Thanks for any info!

You might want to try the Bad Monkey which is similar to a TS. There's so many pedals
out there. Just go out and try them with the same or similar guitar and rig.

Re: Help with a Boost Pedal

Just turn up the bass on the amp! The tubescreamer boosts the mids from the guitar and takes out some bass, and that actually helps to keep the signal nice and tight. If you got a pedal that boosted the bass frequencies too much, it might get flubby, but then again I don't have any experience with 7 strings, so YMMV just to be safe.

Re: Help with a Boost Pedal

Check out the Rocktron Austin Gold OD...it's got more boost than distortion, and will kick the crammin's out of your amps front end. Best part for your needs, it would seem, is the addition of a "pre-bass" knob which adds more bass before the amp only when you kick the pedal on. Lastly, it's a high toned pedal, which acts a bit more like a treble booster than an OD, so there's no mid spike.

Turning up the bass on the amp would help when the OD's on, but might screw up your clean tone.

Yeah don't be afraid to work that EQ, you might be surprized!
