Can anyone help me out and give me some tips on how i can get some good metal/hardcore tones out of my DSL50?

I've got a TSL602. I'm not sure if these same settings will sound the same on your Marshall, but here goes...
I use my lead channel for HEAVY stuff
gain 2:00
vol 2:00
tre 12:00
mid 9:00
bass 3:00
reverb 3:00
presence 12:00
master vol 9-11:00 (yours will vary)

BTW, I got a viper too! Mine is the sunburst color. I have my dropped tuned 1 whole step and with the settings above I get a really cool metallica sound. With the tone switch on (in postion) I get tones for "Crash Course in Brain Surgery" and "Small Hours"...

I gotta DSL and Id punch in the black lead button for extra satuaration. My fav for hard rock is the 1st lead crunch. Punch in the Tone Shift button and the Bass Boost.
treble, mids, bass, and presence is your discretion but keep the gain on 11! Oh yeah!

Buy a Banzai Coldfusion pedal and run that into the front of the amp.
It's a cleanboost/OD that is big and fat, and makes a Marshall's tone give you goose bumps. I ran one into the front of my Jubilee for awhile, and all I can say is....Slash would cower in fear if he heard it.

I have to agree. I used the ColdFusion on my old Marshall JCM800 2205 a few years back and man, it turned my amp into a Demon! :headbang:

hm, i was gonna suggest a zakk wylde pedal, but
ehh, you could try no reverb, maxed gain, and scoop the holy crap outta the mids, max the bass, and set everything else to taste

well, im gonna be honest here, you have the amp, you know the sound you want, start playing, dont automatically use too much gain. the harcore/metal sound isnt really a super high gain sound, you need to keep the guitar inbetween crunch and all out distortion so you get high gain without too much compression. try messing with the eq settings. also it could be your guitar or speaker cabinet that isnt right

I set up it this way:
The important is the Gain control:
I play palmmuted low E (D, C,...) and raise the gain control to this point where it gets saturated and compressed. For Melodic hardcore stuff i set the gain a bit lower than this point for metal maybe little bit higher.
Similiar with bass! I raise it till I can feel the bass in my knees but not more...
Mids are set very high as treble and presence coz I like bright tones but that's a matter of taste....
If I played the DSL it was hard to find the right settings with these switches

hm, people are actually cranking the mids for a more metal sound...that's kinda weird
honestly, a lot of it is up to your bass player
i know weezer isn't by any stretch of the imagination a good example of what you're going for, but on all their heavier songs, the guitar isn't all that heavy at all, but the bass is, and thats how they got that sound

Hey ..I have the DSL 50, try something in the range of mabye , Presence,Tre,Mid,Bass 8,6,9,5 < Somewhere like that would give me what i'd percieve as that description.But it would depend on the Guitar too and also personal taste but try something like that.
