Im having a problem with my amp. I have a Krank Krankenstein Head. I notice when i flip from standby to the "on" position; the amp makes a loud humming noise and no sound from my guitar comes through the amp just the loud hum. I flip back to standby and then back to the on postion and the amp is fine. I noticed that when the amp starts making noise the outside power tubes are glowing blue. The preamp tubes are fine. Please help

Re: Help with amp!

Are You flipping the standby switch right away with the on switch? Or I should say dose it do it when the on switch is ON for about a minute (letting the tubes heat up) Then flip the standby?

Re: Help with amp!

I let the amp warm up first for about a minute then flip the amp to on. That when i hear the lound humming. When i hear the noise i flip back to standby for like 10 sec then flip back to on. then the amp is fine no tonal lost or power loss. I do notice that when the noise starts the the tubes in the 3rd and 4th socket turns blue

Re: Help with amp!

Just guessing... could be a bad standby switch (especially if it's multi-pole), or a bad output tube. If you have spare output tubes, that's the easiest to check.
