Hi guys,
Been searching forums for insight on a current noise-related concern I've got with my HSS Pacifica. Trying to narrow down things to figure out whether it's pickup-related, ground issues, or a combination of both.
I recently re-wired the whole thing and removed the stock electronics, to install a Fred trembucker in the bridge, a SD Fury in the middle (which was in the neck of another Pacifica I had), and a Cruiser (Bridge model) in the neck. What I'm noticing is a big increase in noise solely from the Fred, and also in position 2. Is this because despite the Fury being a stacked single coil, it's not reverse-wound, which is why it's noisy pairing with the HB in position 2? Trying to wrap my head around the whole polarity side of guitar tech, I'm new to it. If the Fred were coil tapped, would that noise then disappear since one side of the HB would be pairing with the Fury?
Fury by itself is quiet in pos 3, as is the Cruiser in pos 5, and also position 4 is quiet.
I think I've also got a ground issue amongst my gear/home studio regardless, but figured the increase from the Fred and position 2, was guitar/pickup related, and might as well start there.
No coil-tap on the tone knob, both volume and tone knob are 500k. The switch is one of those ****ing ridiculous 5-way imports with 12 or 16 tabs. I've got a normal import 5-way switch handy if it could be switch-related.
Can post pictures of wiring, and the schematics I found online for the Pacifica that I used to rewire the whole thing.
If it is solely the Fury not being reverse-wound, any recommendations on Middle pickups for the Fred/Cruiser would also be appreciated! Been hearing great things about the STK-S4m for seriously good quack.
Any input appreciated - Thanks for the time!
