Help with Jethro Tull's version of Serenade to a Cuckoo?

I'm a fantastically poor rhythm guitar player and jazz is pretty far outside my comfort zone but I'm looking to learn the chords and hopefully some of the more melodic parts of (specifically) Jethro Tull's cover ofSerenade to a Cuckoo off of their album This Was.

Without a tab I feel pretty lost, and even after looking at the sheet from the Real Book for Roland Kirk's version and then transposing to Gm (the key JT played it) it just sounds awful/wrong when I play it. Not sure if it's the chord voicings or even if I have the right chords to begin with.

I was hoping I might be able to get some help in getting started with this beast.

So far I have the original version from the Real Book:

Chord Changes: SERENADE TO A CUCKOO | GuitarCats

Which when transposed would presumably end up as:

[A] Section: Gm F Eb D
Section: Cm7 .... etc. I'm not anywhere near this part anyway...

The issue is that when I play what should apparently be Gm, F, etc. it sounds nothing like the record. Help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
