I have a Bc Rich nj series bich (mahogany body, bolt on maple neck, ebony fretboard, floyd rose that i keep blocked) and it has a seymour duncan livewire metal in the bridge... the pickup has waaaaayy too much output and I just dont care for its sound very much. I keep the guitar in D standard or drop C... I listen to all kinds of demos on pickups but as most people come to learn a pickup sounds different in every guitar, so I need some advice from people who have more first hand experience with pickup experimentation. Btw do not reccomend blackouts, Im not much on active pickups.
Id like a bridge pickup thats thick with lots of sustain but still has lots of attack and clarity (many thick sounding pickups tend to sound boxed in to me due to the lack of presence... but bright pickups dont have enough body or depth) output doesnt really matter to me cuz my amp has more gain than I need. The key thing Im looking for I guess is a percussive like quality, attack and body at the same time... hits hard and fast when chugging but still open sounding for chords.
For the neck Id like a pickup thats smooth and liquidy sounding for soloing, but with a great clean tone.
