Help with pickup upgrade epiphone SGModernn

Hi looking for advice on upgrading New epiphone SG Modern! Guitar is awesome but pickups are lackluster. Choosing between Hotrod set or black winter set... unless better suggestions. Play mostly Metallica/sabbath /misfits Style music. Franny not familiar with the SG modern is like a cross between a traditional SG and a Les Paul it has a mahogany body now I’ve heard that the JB does not sound good in mahoganyAny thoughts or advice would be appreciated

The JB can get there, certainly. The Black Winter might have too many mids for an SG, unless you dig mids. Also check out a 59 and a Custom, which can get those sounds with ease.

Yeah I have black winters in a les Paul studio and really dig em was concerned the JB might not be “metal” enough... thanks for the advice!
