HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

Hello to everybody!

Time for personal psychological consuelin!
So i've got my tele with korina body and set maple laminate neck! Bridge is a Floyd rose and i Have 2 HB slots...

Lets go to the sound i want. I am a fan of obtaining high gain sounds from not so high gain pickups! I wanna feel the sound clean up when i turn the volume down!

So my intention in this guitar is to go to a John 5 kind of a sound and the options are 2:
Option 1: Both HB;
Option 2: Bridge Hb and classic tele neck pickup ( i will make a pickguard to allow the SC good housing).

On option 1, i'd love to get some use this stag mag HB i have around the house! would you recommend a good Bridge HB for that? i love the twang it has in the neck!
On option 2, it would benice to have tele SC in a Hum cancelling version!

So , what would you suggest?

Thank you all!

Re: HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

Wow, that sounds like a cool guitar, and I hope you post pics of it. I like the thinking of the Stag Mag for the neck. For the bridge, I'd go with something medium output, lke a 59/Custom Hybrid, because it also splits well. If you split the Stag Mag and the Hybrid, you sort of get a Tele on steroids. In any case, I don't know if I'd go any hotter than the Hybrid.

Hello mincer! i will post pics for sure!! i am a gear geek too! ahaha

Thank you for the suggestion, the 59 / custom hybrid sounds great! unfotunately here in my country ( italy) is not so easy to obtain....

I was thinking a bout a double P RAIL combination, what can u tell me?

Thank you!

Re: HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

Two P-Rails is fantastic. I've got a couple guitars with that set up. But you've already got the StagMag which is a really great pup too. As Mincer said, I'd put the StagMag in the neck with the ability to switch to split mode. The C/59 or P-Rails would be excellent for the bridge...I'd lean toward the P-Rails myself.

Thank you very much guitar doc! Since i am Aiming for ultimate versatility I Think i'll start with a P-rail in the Bridge and my STAG MAG in the neck!

59/custom Hybrid- ill try that as soon as it is avaible in italy!

Re: HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

Good choice. Let us know what you think about that set-up after you've had a chance to play with it for awhile.

I would suggest exactly like that coz I've been considering this combo myself, lol. Let us know about the result from every sound you can get from the combo.

Re: HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

I have never seen an epoxy fingerboard before.
It looks very nice. So tell me why you chose epoxy, if you don't mind. Pros? Cons? I am very curious.
Thank you,
Steve Buffington

Re: HELP WITH TELECASTER PICKUPS!

Well, my Steinberger is phenolic, which is like sheets of paper dipped in epoxy. It is a really comfortable surface to play on.
