Help with wiring a blender in a ssh!!

I just ordered a blender and 59trembucker to put in my strat. I called one guitar tech the other day and he was not familar with blender pots. Could you guys help me by giving me an explanation of what a blender pot does and how to wire in strat for the neck and bridge? The bridge pickup, 59tb has a 4 conductor cable on it. I also plan to switch the single tone to be a master tone. I would need a wiring diagram or explanation for that too.

At another thread lew said "It's easy. The Blender Pot replaces one tone control and comes with two wires already attached to it. Attach one wire to where the neck pickup connects to the 5 way switch and the the other wire to where the bridge pickup connects at the switch.

That leaves you a master volume and master tone. Connect the tone control to the middle terminal of the volume control...same terminal that feeds the output jack.

That's all there is to it.

Lew"

For this explanation I'm assuming lew is talking about the Fralin blenders he sells. Is this correct for what I want to do and all I need to tell the guitar tech, so he can install everything correctly?

I'm just checking with you guys before everything is installed because I don't want him do more work than necessary, as I'm on a low budget.

Thanks for the help guys,
David

Oh I got one more question do you guys think the master tone pot should be 250k or 500k because I'm adding the 59trembucker in the bridge?

A blender pot is simply a regular pot converted to a no load pot. VERY easy make. No reason to spend extra $$ for one. Here's the website with a pictorial tutorial on how to make one:

Go with a 250k for the 59. I've wired up plenty of buckers with 250k's that were alot darker than a 59 and they sounded great. Order the 59 with double screws then radius them, you won't be sorry you did.

Hope this helps.

Re: Help with wiring a blender in a ssh!!

I'd use a 500K volume and tone pot. 250K will make the 59 sound dull. 500K will make the single coils a little brighter but you can compensate by turning your tone control down. CTS Blender pots are $10 and stock CTS pots are $5. For the extra $5, I'd save myself the time , hassle and potencial of making a mistake and go with the factory made Blender pot. All depends what your time is worth I guess...mine is worth alot more than $5.

Thanks for the link to the diagram Fritz6. Oh and thanks Lew for the advice before I got everything installed. I don't like my pickups too low and muddy anyways, great advice for that tone and volume pots.
