HELP with wiring diagram real quick

Im about to install my pickups, but I am confused with this wiring diagram.
It is for my current wiring, which i will keep the same (2 Hbuckers, 5 way switch) on an Ibanez rgt42.

The stock pups are dimarzio designed, i believe. however, the wires are are kind of weird...they are blue, white, black, and red.
so basically i need to convert this to the duncan colors.

ill post a link to the diagram as soon as i can, but the damn ibanez website is down right now. http://www.ibanez.com/wiring

anyone have experience with this or know what is what?

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

you're right, it does have 1 vol, 1 tone. the only difference is that the 5way switch is different...it lets you do coil splitting

i will post the diagram as soon as the ibanez website starts working.

Sit tight, Ibanez did that with a couple of there pups ... Let me run upstairs and look it up, be back in a bit ...

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

Are you sure they are not red, black (or white) [north coil], blue, and yellow
[south coil] ?
The info that I have shows those colours, corresponding to the dmz colours of red, black [north coil ], white, and green[ south coil]; which corresponds to the SD colour code of black, white [ north coil ], red, green [south coil].

Hey j33; not sure how you mean that. The diagram I linked to does do coil-splitting.
Do you mean, that you don't want coil-splitting?

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

they are definitely red, white , black, and blue.

artie: the diagram is good except my 5way switch is different...all of the poles are on one side. it's got like 8 poles in a row, so i'm not sure how to compare it to the one in the diagram

god damn ibanez website better start working so i can put my pups in
if worst comes to worst, i can try and get someone to scan the diagram that i printed out

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

Alright, I'm impatient. I GOT THE DIAGRAM SCANNED

Now, can anyone help me?

It's got that SC-5 switch (or variation of it) it's an odd ball switch; I don't think the contacts move the way you think they would ... I gotta check on those power sounds as they weren't what I had listed ... you are putting in sd pups right? Best I can do is to try to have something for you this evening, try to hang tight .

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

I was just looking at the other wiring diagrams for the ibanez website, and I'm starting to think that maybe the equivalents for dimarzios and my stock pups are as follows ( i was looking at a js2000 for comparizon(http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2002&w=JS2000)... i still need the duncan equivalents though. can i contact duncann and ask them?

$hit pups_____Dimarzio Equiv??_______Duncan Equiv??
blue_______________red_________________black
white_____________black_______________ white
black_____________white________________red
red_______________green_______________green

Nah, I think I got it figured out (see attachment I'm sending to your PM ), this is assuming that they IBZ schematic is correct ... that switch is NOT and normal inline 2 pole 5 way ...FYI ... You'll have to reverse the magnet on the neck pup to get the pole screw poles pointed the correct way ... no big deal.
Check your PM.

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

I just realized that you can't send attachments via PM ... :smack:
And the GIF is to big for the forum, PM me with an e-mail address if you want me to send you the attachment.
Other wise, It breaks down like this :
IBZ ......... SD .......... DMZ
Red ........ Black ...... Red
Black ...... White ..... Black
White ..... Red ........ White
Blue ....... Green ..... Green
Again, you will have to reverse the magnet on the neck pup, to get the correct magnetic polarity per the correct coil/pole piece type ... Everything else should go just as wired at the factory.

Re: HELP with wiring diagram real quick

kent, my email is jparekh@wam.umd.edu

if i have to flip the magnet, maybe i should just put a 3way switch in there or some other type of switch.. i think id rather re-wire things than flip the magnet. nothing is simple

Flipping the magnet is simple, just loosen the bobbins (screws underneath on baseplate); push up the tape enough to get at it, and pull the magnet out and turn it over; then put it back. tighten the bobbins back, and pull the tape back in place. It helps to go in on the side that doesn't have the coil leads attached to the conductor cable; so you don't have to move them out of the way. It gets a bit more complicated with a P-90 or an Invader (with two and three magnets respectively): The process is the same however.
I'll send you the attachment. :cool3:
