Helping out a friend - Thanks!!!

Hello all:

I'd like to help out a young friend. He has an import strat - with 3 single coils and the standard 5 way switch / 2 tone / 1 volume pot set-up. He wants to add a Seymour Duncan Hot Rails in the bridge position - and install a push / pull pot to split the coils. I'm not crazy about splitting the coils - but it's his guitar. I'm guessing the selector switch is an import type. But I haven't seen it yet...

Could someone please direct me to a link - with a diagram for doing the above? The sooner the better, please. Also, will there be a need to reverse the wiring from the Hot Rails (the green and black)?

Thanks in advance!
Will

Re: Helping out a friend - Thanks!!!

hard to say if you need to flip black and green since we dont know what pups are in there now. the schematic is for a fender style switch, not the import but there are a few types of import switch. do you have a meter? you should be able to just connect the hot wire from the hot rails to where ever the current pup connects to the switch

While a split Hot Rails isn't my favorite sound, one in parallel sounds great, and is still hum-cancelling.
