Hay' Davey,
Hendrix's Upside down magnet staggers and and that reverse angled bridge posistion did add --and-or-- subtract things. but IMHO it was not at all why he sounded like he did and its just being used as something to have fun with and help sales in some ways.
Yet Hendrix also used a flying V and sounded like Hendrix to me.
As far as tone-- I would skip the Fuzz face-- that thing fried the tone and you need low DC pups to help that thing cut thru all the mud it creates.. luckly Hendrix's pups were said to be around 6 K
Then for tone listen to little Wing or Axis Bold as love CD-- Hendrix set the standard for years ahead as far as Stratocaster tone..
Hendrix's Live tone was pretty scratchy--crackling and harsh, especially asulting on the ear drums.
Hendrix's Studio tone was KILLER very nice stuff. way ahead of its time.
Trower / SRV was the first (after loosing Hendrix) to do the best job of getting that sound
