Re: Henry says ukes will save Gibson- They really need an L5s and marketing 101
Half of all our new members must also be girls, imagine that. I don't know if 'girls' actually like Daisy Rock guitars or not... But I find them pretty cool, with the exception of the dinky neck profiles (even on 24.75" scale instruments... Those necks feel like toys.) That's coming from a person who happens to prefer small (thin) necks and doesn't mind 24" scale- hell, I've played 3/4 scale vintage Duo Sonic necks that felt bigger than Daisy Rock necks. I think a lot of children of both genders often start learning on full sized guitars anyway so I wonder if the whole neck thing is sort of pandering/sexist. Some women might have bigger hands than me, after all; I'll report back when I finally talk to a female.
I think female guitarists want the same thing as male guitarists- a quality instrument and a lot of variety in selection. Marketing to women is another thing. Haven't watched the Oprah network or picked up a Vogue or Cosmo lately, but wonder if there are more Fender ads in there now...
