Here's a backing to jam to

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

Hey Forumites - this here, is my first clip recorded.

I still need a preamp for my SM57 running through a Delta44 Sound Card, so in the mean time, I'm using my stock card as well as my computer's mic. Surprisingly, it sounds decent!!

Well, enjoy!! :)

BTW : Awesome clips, dudes! I enjoyed those a lot!

EDIT: Explanation of what I still need... Previously had "I still need a preamp for my SM57 running through my SM57 Instrument Mic." Don't ask... :smack:

I was actually able to track down a file of Freddie Mercury as an infant...

No, that's my youngest brother - soon to turn 3. :) Quite a voice.

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

I arrive late in the game, but I'll post a take in a couple of minutes...

Just finished to listen to you all guys and this is very cool. All different styles, yet all great track and great playing! As always, I listened to them after I did my take, I'm always afraid to be too influence by what I've just heard.

Back in a sec... if Sondclick is not down that is.

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

OK, here's my take. Not perfect, but I liked the vibe and did not want to redo it all for a couple of flaws... this is mainly improvised, aside from a couple of melodic lines here and there that I came up with in my head beforehand.

This was done with my new Dean Cadillac Select, with the stock neck PU (I changed its ceramic magnet for an A5). It sounds better than I thought, although I'll change them anyway.

As always, I use my Traynor YCV40 amp, out of the FX loop send into my Behringer direct box with 4X12 cab sim into my sound card.

Here's MY TAKE

Thanks to Alvin Lee Fan for the backtrack... it was so cool I just had to stop working and do something with it :)

Enjoy!

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

here's my butchered version.....the delay screwed alot of things up and i hit alot of wrong notes........also there's a volume jump from my neck to bridge pickup....this was first take...didn't get into it till middle...too lazy to record again..enjoy..

Wow, Kent, I just listened to your take, pretty nice shredding there. Very different vibe, but super playing! I'll never be that fast in my wildest dreams :)

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

mongrollo, you make me want to have a SM57... great tone you have there.

The SM57 is now on top of my wish list.

And you're right, all takes are great, there's everything from light touch to full shred.

Man I'm really impressed with these clips. Lots of good tone all around. I hate to pick a favorite, but I really like the tone Sly_D got on his. Very cool.

I'm gonna try to jam over this tonight if I get some time..

Re: Here's a backing to jam to

Thanks DirrtyCraig, I'm actually a bit surprised myself, although the tone of the Traynor amp is excellent. I expected a worst tone from the Dean stock pickup (it was way too hot with a ceramic magnet, but it's now a bit muffled with an A5). It's actually quite good, alhtough it sounds better recorded than out of the amp. I think this would sound killer with a Pearly Gates.

Go ahead, it's a lot of fun! Giving the number of flaws and accidentally muted notes I did, noone should be afraid to post, really.

Thanks, Sly.

I'm not much of a blues player. so I tend to stick to what I know.
