Here's A Butt Ugly Guitar

Let's all point and laugh together.

And yes, that weird cardboard cutout thing with the marker pen on it does actually seem to be bolted to the back of it. I'm assuming for more stability when sitting down? Which is weird, since he cites comfort while playing sitting down as one of the main reasons for sawing the ****ing thing in half.

You know how the full Fender stratocaster body is not a comfortable shape and size for playing sitting down.

Yes… a well-documented shortcoming of the model, it has plagued guitarists for over half a century.

Re: Here's A Butt Ugly Guitar

It kind of looks like he didn't try the guitar until it was done, realized it was a pot-smoking bad idea, then put that piece of plywood on there because the thing kept slipping off his lap like a Flying V, only it didn't have wings that he could hold onto it with.

Gawd what a dumbass.

It seems appropriate for a lefty.

Why, because it's only half there? :eyecrazy:

Yeah man, I think that's definitely it.

I think it would sit awkwardly low on your lap when trying to play sitting down. If that was me I'd probably keep smacking my strumming hand into my knee.

It's just a straight up bad idea, whatever way you look at it. I pray to God that this guy never gets his hand on a real high-quality instrument.

It's Billy-Bo-tastic!

Older UK members may recall Wild Willy Barrett. He had a similarly modified Les Paul (hopefully, just a copy).

Re: Here's A Butt Ugly Guitar

Maybe luthiery isn't the best idea when the only tool you own is a table saw.

Re: Here's A Butt Ugly Guitar

If he could cut the plywood, why not just cut the piece he needs out of some real wood and glue it on? D'OH!

Re: Here's A Butt Ugly Guitar

You know what? If Jack White had assembled that thing at the beginning of the film It Might Get Loud instead of a diddley bow, it would probably have sold by the truckload. :D

EDIT: How does the output cable get to the repositioned jack socket? Through the vibrato spring cavity or where?
