Here's a switch...gonne put an Epiphone embleml on an Epi with a Gibson emblem...

Probably buying an Epiphone 1960 tribute on Friday. Somebody refinished the headstock with a Gibson logo and a non-stock Les Paul sig that looks terrible. Left the headstock the same shape, which to me looks really, really bad with a Gibson logo!. The plan is to do the conversion to the Gibson headstock, but I don't want a Gibson logo, I actually WANT the Epiphone logo. Just ordered the logos and the original "Les Paul model" sig that goes on the headstock and my father in law is going to help me with the headstock conversion. I suck at woodworking and he is a master craftsman, so I would figure it will turn out good.

On a side note, anyone know what paint to use for the black and clear and where to get it? Would like to use nitro at least for the clear. Thanks bros. Been wanting to do this to an Epiphone Les Paul for quite awhile. Should be fun. And if I mess it up...I won't mind much because she's a cheapee.

Guitar Reranch...got it, thanks!

I'll post pics in a few days. Looking at it tomorrow, and if I like it, its probably staying at my inlaws for a few weeks because my father in law is a "master" carpenter. This guy can build a house in like ten minutes, lol. Does intricate carvings too, anything with wood. He can fix it! They live two hours away, so I'll probably start the job on Saturday while he watches over me, and I'll let him do the stuff I can't handle, like shaping the headstock and so forth.

If I like how this one comes out, I MAY do another, but I like the idea of the Epiphone logo with the Gibson headstock, Aceman. It keeps it "legal" so to speak, plus I don't care about the name. I am, however, one of those idiots who just despises this new Epiphone headstock on a Les Paul or SG body. This is that trans black, or blackburst which I think looks pretty good.

Okay, some pics. Really good looking guitar with more of a green look to it than black. From the serial number, it is a 2003 made in Japan. Plays really nice with 10s, and I can't normally use 10s because my hands cramp up. Possible high fret around the 19th. Plays fine when fretted, but plinks out when bending. Otherwise that's all I can see wrong with it. Since this is a tribute plus, it came wired series/parallel. I don't like the sound of the parallel honestly, so I'll wire it up to split. Sperzel locking tuners are on it, but the seller gave me the original tuners and the original Gibson 57 classic pickups.

You can't really see the "dry" spray all over the headstock. The fellow who put the Gibson logo on it and painted it didn't build up the clear anywhere near enough because you can see and feel the "circle" around the Gibson and Les Paul logos where they were cut out. Can't wait for my paint and logos to get here so I can start on the headstock. This guitar originally came with the silverish Epi logo, so I go that one, and I got a silver Les Paul logo as well. Didn't like the gold. I still don't know if I want to cut out points and dowel/glue them to the corners to replicate the Gibby headstock, or just cut the top to the shape of the Gibson headstock like so many others have done. The best way is to cut the sides off and glue mahogany wings to it, and then cut everything to the proper shape, but I'm not doing all that. I've seen how the others come out, and they're fine.
