I did thise today with my major scale and all of it's modes.



I ran all through all of my scales up and down from the low E in every key and every mode. It took an 1 hour and a 1/2 but it was well worth it.


I heard this from my guitar teacher at jazz camp. He said that whenever you learn a new riff or a new scale you should do it in all 12 keys


It really helped my view of the fretboard.

Just a cool little exercise.

I've done similar stuff. Playing riffs in different keys. I wouldn't say I do EVERY key, but it's fun to screw around, and it helps teach you where the various keys are.

I was bored one night and looked up some John Petrucci exercises on YT and found a metronome one... I got up to 200 bpm in 16ths.

I'm proud of myself.
