Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

JOLLY

Super Simonologist
Here's another new riff for you. I call it Spooky...lol. The only reason I call it that is cause I tried to make my guitar sound ghostly in the little lead fill thingy. It was recorded with a Gibson Les Paul with a Jazz/Jazz combo. All the rhythms are the Jazz bridge and the lead fill is with the Jazz neck. I used a phaser in the lead fill just for you Kevlar.;):) The thing that took me the longest on this was trying to figure out how I wanted the drums to go so they wouldn't sound so monotonous. Anyways, I think I got a pretty decent sound on this. Hope ya enjoy!!:) By the way, I never consider any of these thing I post songs....cause they're not. They're ususally just a couple of riffs I throw together with some type of lead filler.

This is cool! Reminded me of a cross between old Sabbath/ No Rest for the Wicked era Ozzy, but with ALex Lifeson on lead guitar! :)

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

lol....that's got to be the craziest sounding review I've ever heard, but I most definitely take it as a compliment. The Alex Lifeson part killed me...lol. Thanks man!!

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

Very cool as usuals Jolly!! i agree with TO sort of lol...it does have a Sabbath/Ozzy feel to it for sure...but on the other hand i hear all your clips as having a heavy zakk wylde influence...which i hope you don't take as a bad thing since Mr. Wylde is one of the kings in my book when it comes to that heavy chugging along riff with the thick palm mutes in just the right places which you seems to nail each time!! very sweet!!

Thanks X!!...I reckon I sound like Zakk, but the funny thing is I've never listened to that much of him. I've never listened to any of the stuff he did with Ozzy unless it was on the radio. I do have the BLS DVD which I watch occasionally and I loved Pride and Glory. I just kinda play whatever pops in my head..lol.

I also have this posted here now if you'd rather stream it:

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

Everytime I hear your clips, it always makes me wonder if there's a good rock singer in your area you could hook up with, to form a new band. I'm in the same boat, my last band crumbled at the end of last year, so I'm just talking to new guys, trying to get something new off the ground. I'm angry at myself for not having clips to post here, but I needed a break away from all of it for awhile. I got signed, then shelved for no real reason, and it really F'ed my head up good, and soured me to pouring myself into music again. I'm finally over it.

I also get intrigued with the Jazz/Jazz combo everytime I hear your clips, because it seems like such an unlikely combination for the heavy tones you get. Cool stuff!

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

Joe you should try a Jazz Bridge just for the hell of it. I like them cause I can use a bit of gain, yet the pickup keeps me somewhat clean and clear. Thanks HooDs

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

I'm listenin on a crappy laptop speaker right now, so I cant judge the tone fairly, but I will say the first thing that came to my mind was Soundgarden.

Very soundgardenish :D

Great clip.

Jolly,

I always love listening to your stuff. It's always very creative, tasteful, and original. The tone was really nice. Note separation in the chording with tons of clarity. No muddiness at all. Ever since your cover of "Train Train" I have always looked forwad to hearing your stuff.

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

I'm already a fan of the Jazz neck but you make me want to try a jazz bridge - great crunch with clarity. Nice stuff.

Re: Here's Another New Riff For You: Spooky/Ghostly

That was great!! I loved the tone of that slow, strong lead...
