These guitars were marketed as being UK made alternatives to PRS guitars. They didn't quite make it, and have since slipped into obscurity. You can still buy them, though.
This is a 1996 Patrick Eggle "Berlin Pro" 22 HT, which I bought new, direct from the factory in, ermmmm, 1996. I phoned them, wanting the exact guitar that I'd seen in the brochure. They told me that the guitar pictured in the brochure was available, so I bought it then and there
.
It has a mahogany back carrying a tightly flamed maple cap, glued in maple neck with an ebony fingerboard, Sperzel tuners, and the sweetest pair of humbuckers I've yet to hear - a tappable Seymour Duncan Custom Custom @ bringe, and a tappable Seymour Duncan Alnico Pro II @ neck.
I've wanted to sell this guitar for years, to trade it in for any one of a number of better known guitars with more kudos and credibility.
But I just can't. The Duncan equipped Eggle was my first "keeper" guitar. We've been together for 18 years. I'm not going to let her go
