Re: here's pics of a strat i relic-ed

Here's one I did. Turned out great. :chairfall

Innocent Bystander: Where did you get this pic?
Do you know the "story" behind it?
My sympathy to the final owner
(unless he/she is a pyromaniac)

However, great response on your part. I'm still laughing (between the tears of thinking of seeing the real guitar burning!)

I knew guys like you in high school. They used to rub their skateboards against a curb to make it look like they had been doing tricks all day! Yesterdays peusers are today's artisits. Looks great, BTW!

Beautiful first pic there. Needs gold hardware, a left handed trem, and the house is rockin'!

Re: here's pics of a strat i relic-ed

Does it resonate better? Also, are you considering sanding all of the finish off?

yes it deos resonate better and i think thats important
older guitar's with a laquer finish seem to resonate beter as well that why i did what i did. i still have nt clear cloated it with cellulose laquer but will soom day

Re: here's pics of a strat i relic-ed

I agree completely. I'd like to own a relic'd strat AND a relic'd Les Paul someday. I'm thinking of sending my LP Standard off to RS to get relic'd.

if your has a nitro-cellulose lacquer dont mess with it, it will be great sounding ,the older it gets if it has polyurethane or polyester it will last for ever and protect the wood forever
( i beleive the dryer the wood the better the resonance and tone .

I just googled guitar fire or something like that and it came up in the images.

Re: here's pics of a strat i relic-ed

it looks great!

one thing though, since you are doing the whole relic thing i would recommend doing something with the shiny metal pickguard. (i would hold it up and move a lighter around underneath it and let the smokey stuff get into the metal before rubbing the "well used" areas with bleach dampened rag.) it looks great without it too.
