Heritage h-535 and Seth Lover Feedback

I have a Heritage H-535 with factory installed Seth Lovers. My problem with the is the microphonic feedback at very low gain stages. I expected some microphonic issues with it because the pickups aren't potted, but the guitar is unusable for most applications iI have to use distortion. Right now my solution has been to grab my old Electra 2266 335 copy or a solidbody. Anybody have a good solution for minimizing the microphonic's without potting or replacing the pickups? Thanks

Just curious... where are you standing with relation to your amp when the feedback occurs?

varying distances. The guitar is always on the edge of letting go. Sounds fantastic though. My Electra 335 doesn't do it, so I opt use it more.

How about sticking some foam underneath the pu??
Or get some very long springs?
You can eleminate alot of unwanted feedback that way.
Guess it will work best with some other more firm springs in that kind of a guitar.
If the pu was directly mounted in the wood then just add some more foam.
Potting removes some of that nice 3d quality in the pu's.

The Seths aren't any more prone to microphonics than the original pafs from the 50's and 60's, but if it's really an issue, just unsolder the nickel covers and remove them. If you're lucky you'll find some double cream coils under the covers and if you're playing with heavy distortion you might like the tone better without the covers anyway...most hard rockers do! It's the cover resonating that causes most of the whistling. Lew
