Scott_F, thanks. That makes sense, and as I said I am not that concerned about the resale value, because I intend to keep this guitar. Nevertheless, knowing the drop in the resale value (in %'s) ain't that bad is very cool.

Casblah, cool I was aware of the waiting period, and as you say I gotta be ordering it like 4-5 months ahead. By the way, would I pay upfront or when the guitar arrives to Jay's store before shipment?

Doc- you should expect to pay about 1/3 of the guitar's price upfront, as a deposit.

Jay's website blows. I was working with him for a brief time to redo his site for a nice below cost axe, but we never could work it out.

It really does blow(chunks). Heritage's site isn't much better. Maybe you could work on theirs as well, Scott.

Doc, consider getting a Hamer Monoco Super Pro like mine. It'll be alot cheaper than a Gibson ES-335 and alot prettier than a Heritage. I think the Heritage guitars are just a little short in the styling department and have a slightly clumsy look and stiff feel. Just my opinon.

I've owned a few Gibson ES-335 guitars including one from '58 and 2 or 3 from the early 60's with stop tailpieces.

I like my Hamer Monoco Super pro as much as any of them and you can find them used on Ebay for $1300 to 1500.

From what I understand yours is like a Cloud 9 paul no? It's cool and all, but I think I have enough LPs, in fact one day we might we get to compare my R7 (a great guitar, I asked Steve at Wildwood to get me a great R7. I waited like 4 months, and finally 74300 arrived! It is big, and with rolph's 59s it sounds awesome!) against your monoco.

I want to get this huge sound of ES335's, because I honestly love what I hear on ABB's hitting the note (warren's parts). How far that tone from that of a LP is another question that I don't know the answer to. I think I am gonna let go one of my strats that I am not using that much, and grab that H535.

And the custom shop part that I could use is great. At least this is what I think right now.

How would you say your monoco compares against ES335's you had in the past. Particularly, did the ES335s sound bigger than your monoco?

The thing is, my Monoco has a 25 1/2" fingerboard like a L-5 or Tele or Strat. That gives the bass notes some real authority over the 24 3/4" scale of my Les Paul or a ES-335. It gives the guitar a bigger, tighter, deeper tone. And it improves the intonation too. Lew
