Hex poles - does length affect tone?

Re: Hex poles - does length affect tone?

I was more worried about the bobbins. Those allen screws wont go flush in regular bobbins will they?

Re: Hex poles - does length affect tone?

There's nothing different about the bobbin with a slot head screw or an Allen head. Just pull one out of a Full Shred and one out of a 59 or whatever, and you'll see they're the same depth, unless Duncan did something to change their bobbin since I've last looked at one.

Re: Hex poles - does length affect tone?

I put some Allen heads in a 59n and they don't seat flush with the bobbin. Maybe it's because I got them from AddictionFX.

Could be that, or just a build up of wax in there, so the allen heads won't sit down all the way.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I had this same problem. I purchased some from addictionFX around the time this post was made. The heads are too wide. They were
.220" and it needs to be .205". They were also pretty long, probably 7/8".

I recently purchased a box of 100 from McMaster Carr for $8 plus shipping & tax. They're black, 5/8" long and they fit perfectly. I probably could have gone with 1/2" length.

Anyways I hope this helps.
