Hex string lockscrew on Floyd Rose - GAUGE?? What about JT-580, thread not length?

Adieu

Snapped a saddle screw, think I can get it out. Hate waiting for allparts/stewmac, hate order minimums or shipping higher than price, hate even worse copy parts than the JT-580's (Jackson Takeuchi low pro)... to my surprise, saw such screws in hardware stores, but what's the gauge I'm looking for? Don't wanna obliterate the saddle before I get it right....

Thx

noticed it lists as M4 x 0.4... M4, 0.4 thread sound right???

man, just buy a digital caliper, it costs peanuts and is a must for any DIY guitar hot-rodder.
Saddle hex bolt is M3 so, M4 for the string lock bolt sounds fair.

Have that info somewhere, just not on me right now. You should be able to take one out to the hardware store and size it or have it sized. The length was a bit of a trick when I stocked up a few years ago...I think it's an 8 length and 10 is more common. Or save yourself the hassle and call or email FR for exact specs.

Fastenal can also be a good option. Wouldn't hurt to grab more than just one. They are literally just a few cents, making them more affordable than the time and resources to hunt them down again if you need another.

Whatever you do, get at least 10.9. 12.9 would be better. I went with the stronger 12.9 on the saddle and bit screws on my Floyds.

10.9? 12.9? Of what?

Length wise, i got it easier, the Jackson low profile has a different short screw design...think thats why i tore it off, though, being used to putting in the torque needed for bigass long OFR type screws

That's the grade of alloy. Go to the link and peek around for a few minutes and you can figure it all out.

within their site - sure... but outside it, how can you tell what uses what???

Well, there is what I did.

I spent a little time doing a bit of research. Then I figured out what works best for what I wanted.
