Hey guys, help me out...

My wife's springing for a new acoustic for my birthday and I'm looking for the best I can get for $800-$1200.

Here's some that I've scoped out already:

I'm hoping to stay with spruce top rosewood body and fingerboard. Which of these do you like and why? Any other suggestions? Thanks a bunch for your help! (I really like the looks of that Parker, only thing is it's got a cedar top)

I would look at a Martin DC-15E. It's an all mahogany, Acoustic/electric, solid wood construction. Really sensational guitars (IMHO). I have owned 3 different "15" series (all mahogany) guitars and loved every one. They are a little above your price ceiling, but Jon may get it close enough.....and it's in-stock...now.

Good luck!

Re: Hey guys, help me out...

i have a taylor 410 that i LOVE. it has such a perfectly balanced sound, and is really not a difficult instrument to play. cost me 1100 i think when i got it (give or take a few dollars). i tried many acoustics before i got it, including other taylors, martins, guilds, gibsons, etc. and this was the best imo.

problem is i dont think they make it any more (without the cutaway)...however, if you find one, do try it

Re: Hey guys, help me out...

I'm a Taylor kind of guy. I have a 30th anniversary 314ce that I just absolutely love. I love the way it plays and I love the way it sounds. Every person that ever comes over my house and plays it is completely blown away by it. I'd go with the Taylor if I were you, but that's just me.

Re: Hey guys, help me out...

While I'll admit I've never played Breedloves, Collings or some of the other high end acoustic builders, as far as the companies I have tried, Taylor blew the competition away. Out of those I'd definitely look long and hard at the Taylor. I ended up spending nearly half a grand more than I intended as the Taylor I bought moved me so much.

Re: Hey guys, help me out...

Thanks, guys! I guess I've got some decisions to make, and a few guitars to play to see which I like best. Thanks, again.

Re: Hey guys, help me out...

I haven't tried those you listed there... But I have tried a Martin D-15, and it blew my mind.. The sustain on the harmonics on that guitar was unreal. I didn't play much with it though, but it's a nice guitar. Without any electronics though..

I know I'll be looking at the Taylor 3- or 4-series (in addition to a few Martins) next time I'm having an acoustic. I have heard so much good about those..
