Hey guys, Im new, with a question (big surprise huh)

Re: Hey guys, Im new, with a question (big surprise huh)

Well this is interesting. The 85 in the bridge does have a bit more low end, still has very nice attack. Im not 100% convinced yet, but its better.

The 81 in the neck on the other hand - wow. I am impressed with this. :bigok:

Re: Hey guys, Im new, with a question (big surprise huh)

Never owned an invader, but when I have picked up an Invader loaded guitar I was far from impressed with its low end definition. If I’m looking for a pickup with great definition in the low end, my first try would be a Screamin’ Demon. Keep in mind the Demon is a more modern, hi-fi sounding pickup. I don’t think you could make a Screamin’ Demon muddy with a bag of dirt and bucket of water.

I have a demon in my kramer baretta (maple) and an invader in my carvin (alder.)

The demon is INSANELY clear for leads, but it muds up for rythm, not really in a bad way but it does to a degree. You don't hear a hard edge or hear every string ring out clearly. It doesn't have much lowend either. Not a bad thing in its case considering the insane amount of cab thump it generates. I have it set as close as possible.

The Invader is more clouded and fatter for leads. It has a much harder edge and I hear every string ring out clearly. I'm not sure what you mean by lowend definition but it seems to stay more defined on heavier riffs than my demon does. I have it backed off a long ways.

These are just my experences with my guitars.

www.billlawrence.com is the one you want. I've used pickups from both companies, the Bill and Becky ones are the better of the two IMO.

Yeal the l 500 XL is definitley what you need: Clarity, definition and BALLZ.

Otherwise, Domarzio now makes a pickup based on he EMG's but PASSIVE, that may be what you're looking for.

About duncans, in don't agree with what Mephis said above, the Screaming Demon has a tight low end and excellent clarity and definition, and has this GROWL and percussive tone that will make you riffs sound good, i don't think it get muddy when playing riffs. It's true that you don't hear the string separation, but tha makes your chords sound heavier i think. I don't think string separation is a good point foir playing riffs. Actually i don't think the emg 81 is a great pickup for riffs it's better for leads i think.
It doesn't have a HIGH output, to me that's actually better. That forces you to play better and make the sound come from your picckuing attack and not from your "everything on 11 mega-hyper-superboost-over-beyond-drive-pedal".
I'm currently getting rid of my high-output pickups because they turn the sound into mud and tend to absorb a lot of high frequencies.

The Jb is ok Dave Mustaine used it, the distortion is ok too, the custom i don't know. The invader is not what you're looking for, too muddy fuzzy buzzy to play speed riffs.

:arms: Nice! 85 in the bridge with either an 81 or 60 in the neck is the way to go.
