Well, on the other post that WFD has posted in, he said he's playing through 30 watt IBM PC speakers. :argh: No wonder it sounds spongey. Anything will sound spongey through PC speakers.

I'm jealous that you got one of those heads BTW. Have you had a chance to open it up and see if it's any different than a stock 2203? I've heard that it's not. The closest I'll get to it is what I have now, JCM900 MkIII 2100, which was actually based off the JCM800 2203.

it has 6550 power tubes
and a few little discreet things done to the circut board compared to a stock 2203
I did a A/B with a 2203 when i was buying and the zakk head smoked the 2203 they had
i love it with the MXR zakk pedal it is like they were neat to be together!
and having 4 marshhall 4x12 cabs helps:biglaugh:
I use MESA pre tubes cause they sounded the best!

My honest suggestion then, since you don't have an amp, is to just keep what you have right now. Don't waste your money swapping pickups only to be disappointed with each change. You really need to get a guitar amp that works for you before deciding if the CC is not right for you. It's like buying tires. How do you know you don't like how they ride if you don't own a car?

Save the money you would otherwise spend on pickups for an amp.

the CC to me with the right amp can sound like
"south of heaven" or "seasons in the abyss"
i get those tones no prob with a CC and my amp and the next minute
also nail the early VH tone with it so go figure :biglaugh:
I think the CC is great i can see why eddie used one

It's my favorite bridge pickup. I have it in 2 guitars, possibly 3 at some point. Now, if they would just make a Little CC.

Never tried it in the neck. It's a little on the hot side for the neck. I like the Jazz best in the neck position.

dave urich uses them in the neck spot in his ibanez
sounds real good actually
I like more snap for the neck spot myself
