Hey guys…SG repair vs Cost question

Re: Hey guys…SG repair vs Cost question

If that is just on the top I would leave it alone. Go open it up and see if it runs into the cavity etc? Not a bad price , might be just cosmetic damage but it is almost impossible to tell from here.

Those were $899 - $1100 new (can't see the pickup config), so as long as the repair is < $500 it's a win.

Heck yeah get it, repair it, and re-do it in the blue. I think the blue one looks great and I usually don't like any SGs as far as looks go. It will be easier to paint it a different color than it will be to properly blend in the repaired area.

Good buy.

hmmm…..This is such a bad life decision at the moment.

But aren't those the ones that make life worth living?

But seriously - Elmo's wood glue, and a couple cans of whatever and some TLC…. :headbang:

I am pretty sure it is Cavity only….

So, did the OP get it? I know I would. Be glad it's not the headstock.

I'd fix the structural issue with the crack then just play it.

Re: Hey guys…SG repair vs Cost question

if it's the former, it's really not that big a deal. Wick in some thin super glue, level it, re-colour if you feel like it, and buff to a high gloss to match the rest. boom, good to go.

How would one go about repairing a crack like this? I've got the same problem on an Epi LP. The problem is that the two sides of the crack have shifted under one another and I can't get them flush again.

ive seen a lot of those cracks around the pots on SG's. Usually only a surface thing. If it was me i wouldn't even bother repairing it, i'd just play the thing and enjoy.

You could always do an 'Agile' and flip it for more than you paid even if the repair doesn't get you where you want it to be.

I'd say go for it. That can be repaired. I'd paint it Pelham Blue, but your choice looks cool too.
