Hey guys!

I am wondering I have a set of old gotoh tuners and Grover tuners (the grover are 18-1) which ones would be better for keeping a vintage trem in tune?

Also does anyone know how I can take the back of the tuner out? that is covering the gear I think they look cooler with the exposed gear.

Thanks!

Re: Hey guys!

The brand names Gotoh and Grover appear on the casings of numerous machinehead designs. The exact method of removal will depend on the gear housing. The desirability of making this change is debatable. Depends how strongly you feel the urge to combine grit, gear grease and fingers. (It will end up on the strings and fingerboard. Yummy!)

Re: Hey guys!

Definitely Grover, you can tighten the tension of the tuning knob beautifully on the peg's screw.
Never tried to take back off. One FELL off by itself after a NASTY FALL but couldn't tell if it was in by pressure or solder or even glue of some kind.
Bet you a dollar to a donut you could call and ask. 50/50 chance you could get a good rep. Call early. They have been around since the civil war. They must have good staff with all the competition these days. (they do make great stuff).
Mucho luck
