Sorry didn't see this sooner. Can't do it just now as it is in the shop. It didn't handle the change the the EL34's for some reason. Apparently there is something wrong with the bias grid. Not on all of them, the shop told me not to freak out, it was an odd ball thing. I probably won't have it back for another week or so but I will certainly try to do some mellow stuff and some seriously heavy stuff when it comes home. I misz it big time right now!
Thank you very much Wattage! I appreciate your kindness.
By the way, what kind of music do you play? What model did you get (Triple XXX; 40 watt, 1X12, 2X12, etc...)
I am quite interested in the Triple XXX. I have yet the chance to play one, tho I have a few demos (including yours comparing EL34 and 6L6 tubes

) on my computer and Im carefully analyzing and comparing... I did play a Marshall DSL, which I loved, but it was pretty much good for blues, classic rock, and hard rock... The Lead 2 channel was unuseable for me (and I like Metal as well as blues) not because it had too much distortion, but because it sounded really "hot and stuffy"... Like it had a cold or something... I suppose that would mean it had a "nasal" sound. The Lead 1 was nice and so were the classic and clean modes...
I found the Marshall DSL 100 stack to be very aggressive and punchy, as well as very versatile. Would you consider the same about your Peavey Triple XXX, Wattage?
I also met a guy right when I was gonna finish up my last blues lick who liked the Marshall, but said he wanted the
used Peavey Ultra or something, and thought it sounded better than the Marshall. I know that the Ultra series or what ever it is called was the Triple XXX's predecessor, which was GOOD NEWS to my ears. Hopefully the XXX will prove to be versatile when Get around to playin it with nice tones and great punch... Cuz I kno it has aggression
