Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

Re: Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about your past health problems. It's good to hear that you've found a passion for playing guitar again. I find guitar playing very therapeutic (physical & mental). Back in 1988, I bought my first electric guitar, but a few weeks after, I was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident that left my left leg (femur) & my left forearm arm completely broken. I must say it was difficult, but not impossible to play guitar with a cast on your arm. I still maintain my passion for guitar playing to this day and it is something that I would never give up. Hopefully you will maintain the same passion.;) This forum has an excellent cast of members on here to help out with any questions that you may have.

Not having the Dean anymore to practice with, I really need to step it up! Didn't find anything worth mentioning at the local shop, so back to the online search. If I can stop being so OCD about it I might be able to make a choice "soon" lol:33:

Re: Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

Well,
My wife was driving home from a work meeting a bit future uptown then she ever goes and found literally the only other guitar shop without traveling 70+ miles 1way to the nearest GC. She drove me up Saturday morning, it was a nice little store. It was strictly guitar/bass ( electric & acoustic ) as well as a nice selection of amps. They had preowned as well as new. Took me nearly 2 hours to finally decide on one. I had been looking mainly for a MIM Standard, which they had zero of. There was a lime green Gilmour signature series w/ EMG SSS configuration. I really didn't even bother with it, the had an American Standard and I couldn't justify the price. That's when I saw her ( still deciding on her name ) a 60's Classic Squier Strat.

3-Color Sunburst< which I am partial too!
Body-Alder
Neck-Maple
Fretboard-Rosewood
Neck Shape-Modern "C"
String Nut-Synthetic Bone
Pickups-SSS:Custom Vintage-Style Single-Coil Strat
Pickup Switch-Standard 5 way
Bridge-6-Saddle Vintage-Style Synchronized Tremolo
Hardware Finish-Chrome
Tuners-Vintage-Style ( I believe Klusen Tuners or very similar ) correct me if wrong please

Additional-The volume knobs, tone knobs and switch tip are mildly aged.
The Maple neck however has a very nice tint to it ( flamed maple )

I put a new set of 9's on it and have been nothing less then blown away. I went ahead ad purchased a new Fender Mustang II with it, which frankly sounds much better then I could have believed. Solid state has come a long way since my last one 20 years ago! Being a modeling amp it has some very nice presets to work with, but I have now downloaded the fusion software and plan to do some creative processing on some of my own unique sounds.

Sorry I have no pic yet, my SLR battery died! I hope to have a replacement in a day or two so picks to come.

I just wanted to update that I am no longer guitar-less!

PS-
I am VERY impressed overall with this guitar, it has some incredible tone the likes of which I have only heard come from American Strats or better.

Re: Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

I have a 60s classic vibe stratocaster, in the same color I might add 😉 and it is an amazing guitar. Don't let the name squier fool you on that baby, it is just to say it was made in China with some very good quality. Good score!

Re: Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

Thanks a lot Tiger & Pushed!
Sorry I have not posted pics yet, my HD crashed the other day and is pretty much completely dead.

I agree with you Pushed, I am very glad I went with the 60's CV. I put a new set of Ernie Ball 9's on it and it is simply singing. I had some nice guitars back in the 80's before I was sidelined, but I have to say that so far ( fit, finish, sound quality, build quality, etc... ) this may easily be the nicest guitar I have ever owned.

Promise pics soon, just need a new computer ( using a borrowed one atm ) please be patient!

Cool stuff! The newer Squire stuff in the past few years has been top notch! Congrats on the score!

Re: Hi everyone, new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself.

Hi everyone,
Sorry it took so long for me to reply with a promised picture of the new gear, but my HD issue mentioned above was just the start of a very serious problem.

Long story short, we ( my Wife & I ) were the victims of a vicious hacking. We both had to create new accounts with new emails, passwords, etc... According to my ISP there were several security attacks during that week in and around my area.

So I apologize for the delay and for the new screenname, we both thought it would be a good idea to start fresh. I guess I will contact a moderator and have them delete DarkStarAstro.

As I mentioned before I appreciate all the friendly welcomes to the forums and now that I am back up and running, I also look forward to being an active member of the community.

So here it is as promised, a picture of my first guitar & amp in nearly 20 years.
The more I play it the more I love it and am glad I went with it. The first change I plan to make is to switch out the tortoise shell pickguard for a white one, at least to me it sets the 3-color sunburst off much better. I just hope it is something I can do on my own, from what I have read and watched on video it looks pretty straight forward.

Also thank you for the compliment Lucid!
