Just got this today at "Dick's Country Store and Music Oasis" -- 1000 guns and 500 guitars! :lmao: I was actually looking at Strats and when I saw this one, I was smitten. Walked around the store for a bit and left. Drove down the road a ways and turned around. Anyway, this baby now belongs to me!

Les Paul Classic with mahogany body (obviously) and zebrano (zebra wood) cap and burtbucker pro pickups. I was quite surprised by the pickups. I'm not terribly familiar with Gibson's pickup line but I liked these. They seem to compress more than I though they would -- I'm thinking they must have ceramic magnets. My first thought was that I'd replace the pickups, but after playing for awhile, I'm thinking I like them enough to keep them. And, yes, the pics are crappy.

Congrats dude, that has to be by far, without question, the most wicked looking piece of zebra wood I have every seen.

The wood has a great resonance quality, but I almost think I'd have bought it just for the look alone. I didn't play it plugged in, just took it off the rack and strummed a few chords, ran through a few scalar exercises and a couple riffs -- it felt alive in my hands. I'm loving it!

Thanks! I think I'm gonna enjoy this one a lot! A tidbit I didn't include in the thread starter is that this particular guitar is one the promotional "Guitar of the Week" deals that Gibson had going on last year. Turns out, these guitars were done in a limited run of 400 -- pretty cool.

Wow...That's a beauty.

There's a flame maple top LP with a clear finish at a local guitar shop that looks sorta similar. To me, that clear finish is my favorite on an LP and that wood just kicks it over the top.

Holy cow... that's one of the best pieces of wood I've ever seen! Fantastic score... I'm with Stratman... I love it when someone gets a guitar they really love... nice one!

P.s Need more pics of that one.... so put it down for a while and post some... LOTS!!

Yeah, I fell in love with it's look, but after playing it -- man, it's a sweet player! The neck (60's profile) fits my hand perfectly. The store I bought it from has a policy of matching the lowest published price (usually Musician's Friend prices). I paid $1999.95 for it, so the deal was pretty good.

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with it. Of course, you realize it's situated next to the Route 66 I bought from you -- love that amp! (hopefully, you have no regrets selling it :))

i despise most Les Pauls... but that thing, just breaks the "would play it" meter.

AWESOME AWESOME FIND! enjoy it! a good les paul is like finding a diamond in a pile of cubic zirconias. ENJOY, and please, PLEASE PLEASE leave a review here for all of us to enjoy.
