Hi, you guys can call me "DD". Anyways, I will be receiving a new guitar soon. It's going to be an RGT42DXFM. Mahogany body w/ maple top, neck-thru construction (according to site: 5 pc. maple/walnut neck with rosewood fingerboard). Oh and it has an H-H configuration. I'm obsessed with the Live Wire: Heavy Metal tone but I don't want to route a cavity in my guitar! Examples of tone from what I listen to: Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, Evergrey, Killswitch Engage, Judas Priest, Dream Theater, In Flames, Soilwork, and... lah dee dah!!

I was thinking maybe an Invader in the neck and an SH-11 in the bridge?
I'm so lost :( Oh. and if any of you own a Dimebucker could you PLEASE post a clip?! :( thankyouuu

very confusedly,

~Dee-dee

Re: hi world i'm new and i have a question.

I will be replacing the stock pickups on my Ibanez RG321 soon, and the tone I'm looking for isn't too different from what you're looking for. I've been doing searching too, and through recommendations, I'm going to get a set Duncan Distortions for both positions.

thankyou ksmith!! Well I guess now all I have to do is figure out what I want in the neck position then. Doesn't it have to be active too? I know that wiring active with passive is kind of complicated to assemble. And I've even heard of active+passive in a guitar will cause one pick up to not even function. Is this true?
